Why would you want manufactured suede over real leather where a sweaty backside is going to sit after leaving the gym or after a hike? It’s used in expensive sports cars and steering wheels for better driving grip and because it’s in those cars, the public have fallen for it as luxurious. It serves little purpose for an SUV, especially an off road SUV. It’s more maintenance than leather and frankly looks like a downgrade after 12 months. If I could swap out the V8 steering wheel for leather instead of alcantara, I would in a heartbeat. I expect there will be options to swap in a later model year. As it is, you have to wear driving gloves to keep it in top shape unless your hands are perfectly clean and dry at all times.
I actually like it on the steering wheel, it feels really nice in the hand, but you do have to be more careful about what's on your hands (think greasy foods, etc). Reality is that a leather steering wheel loses its soft feel overtime as well and becomes shiny. At that point I'll just get a new steering wheel.

i have about 7000 miles on my V8 and cleaned the steering wheel over the weekend with a alcantara specific cleaner. Looks like new.

i would of preferred not having the wheel in Alcantara but it does feel amazing clean.

i didn’t order my v8 but coming from my HSE with full leather, the leather was not holding up well especially on the seats with only 10k miles.

the alcantara seats seem to hide creases better

After a severe amount of brain damage and a nightmare with local Houston dealer(JLR Southwest - horrrrrrrible), placing my order back in early dec. for a 90 V8. Going to take delivery 9/30 to find that the sales guy ordered a 110 V8 "by mistake"...I find this preowned 2023 that had 900mi that was 99% identical spec to what I ordered...somehow still able to join the V8 roll call! Stealth Xpel, spacers and Milltek just arrived yesterday!

It is going to take a major amount of effort not to order a V8 by year end.

if you are looking for a specific part number for the v8 it does not exist.

they were not meant for the v8. Your dealer is an idiot if they can’t find a part number. they have diagrams.
have them pull a HSE or something. they came standard on everything t but the base and v8 models
