Default Gear Slippage...

Hi guys,

So lately my 2005 Land Rover LR3 has been slipping out of the drive gear.
It seems to only have slippage when I make a stop and it seems to not go in any gear it just shows blank so I have to hit it back to drive.

This is obviously dangerous because if I need to make a quick move in traffic and I dont notice the slippage, ill just sit there and rev untgil I put it back in gear.

So by habit every time im at a stop I check the dash to see if its still in gear just in case, or before I make a move in traffic I double check that its in gear first.

What could be the problem, do I need to replace anything.

Also, how much am I looking at to fix this??

Thanks guys!

Slipping out of gear usually means tranny gear linkage needs work. Check Disco3.co.uk , go to their WIKI .there is a write up on that .

Yep..that's the one.
I have no idea how much though. It sure will be cheaper than diagnosing transmission alone.I would start with this as it is a relatively simple job and most likely your case.Did not have to replace the part yet as I lubricate gear level every year to avoid rusting therefore causing problems down the road .good luck
