Question for everyone upsizing the OEM Tire diameter.

Obviously this throws off the speedometer. Which can be left as is or can be corrected as I understand it with like the Gap IID Tool.

My question though, is how does it affect driveability? I recall a friend who had a Jeep Wrangler and he went to 35s on it (maybe 37s? I can't recall) - but he mentioned that it drove like crap after that. Which is (in fairness) to be expected to some extent. I recall talking to him about how it effectively affected the gearing since the rotation of the wheels/tires were now different than the expectations the engineers built in for the trans/diffs gear sets used.

So the quesiton here is, how does it affect things like acceleration? added wear on trans/gearing? Or does the inherently different drivetrain of a Defender (vs something like a Wrangler) - make this a non issue?

Either way, thanks again for the video to show whats required here.

My intention is to go from Factory:
275 / 45 / 22 AKA31.7 x 10.8 x 22. AKA32 x 11 x 22

to:

285 / 50 / 22 AKA33.2 x 11.2 x 22. AKA 33 x 11 x 22

Ultimately in my case I'm sure going to 33's won't require nearly as much trimming.

Going to a 33" tire won't be an issue. Your speedo will be off by 1-2 mph, and you won't notice any difference in acceleration. Going up to 35" tires you will feel a difference. I believe @sarek offers a transmission tune and regears the final drive when going to 35" tires.
