Default Wade Sensors and fixed side steps

My wade sensor is behaving strangely. I went through deep water water yesterday and it barely registered any. And sometimes it flicks to say water even when stationary on dry land.
I had steps fixed to the side when new. Could the steps be making the Wade Sensor misread of could it be the sensor?

Correct - Right Wade sensing doesnt work with fixed or deployable side steps

Unrelated to steps. The sensors are in the mirrors. There is zero impact from steps/sliders.

The sensor may be dirty, faulty or most likely there was insufficient water and nothing at all is the matter. You need at least 6" to register.

Previous suggestions that steps will negate wade sensing are incorrect.
