Yes, I do agree. It’s more of a aggressive look.

Or are they fairly flush against the painted surfaces? If they push the arches out, are people finding that they want to bump the wheels out a titch too? IMO, there's a fine line between rugged/functional and too plastic-y and I can't quite decide on which side these fall.

thanks

When I ordered my Defender in January really couldn’t see any in the flesh since they didn’t start arriving in the states until June and the first glance was my own.

I didn’t like the wheel arch protectors in pictures, especially with the road tires it just didn’t look right, but I must say with a bigger off road tire they look great and to answer your question there is about an 1/8” difference overhang from stock, not even noticeable.

I’m sure February cannot come fast enough, you’ll love your defender.

Yes, not much additional overhang at all. The perspective in your photos is very helpful. It looks clean and purposeful, not like a money-saving faux rugged add-on. I’m looking at you, Subaru

Regarding February...yeah, I’m pretty excited.

I have my 2021 HSE on order. I popped by the dealer yesterday and noticed that all the models they had all seem to have gloss standard wheel arch and door sills. Does anyone know if gloss is standard on the new 2021 HSE model?

Default Coming

Ordered mine through Bearmach and they are shipping out today. Took a few weeks as they are on backorder. Want to get them on the truck before Baja next week.

Fyi, Bearmach air freights the shipments and I usually get parts in 3 days. Quicker shipping than coming from the East Coast domestically. I'm in CA. Replacement parts for my other rovers are much cheaper.

Just ordered what will be a 2022 X-dynamic SE, and want the wheel arch flares as well. I was told that SE and up will have gloss lower trim which I think may look odd with the matte flares. I do want the flares nevertheless. To get matte lower trim sections, yet all the options of an x-dynamic, you’d have to peice together an S and probably get darn near the same price in the end.

Having said that, I just noticed that my beloved 2013 LR4 has the gloss body color flares but all the lower trim is the older matte black/grey and I’ve never given it a single thought until now.

I managed to find this photo of the odd combination on someone’s rig.

This looks really good. Too bad JLR doesn't offer this as an option alongside the matte wheel arches for owners with glossy lower trim. I would like to get the arches but I agree with most others that they do not integrate well with the X-trim vehicles unless they are refinished.

Too bad JLR doesn’t just ship it from the factory with glossy wheel arches at those higher trim levels. It wouldn’t cost that much more and would make those models visually more distinctive and attractive, even if they passed on some or all of the cost.
