I was surprised to get the message that my data pack expires 6/1/24 as the Defender is a 2022 model registered in 11/21 - not clear how they determine expiration date.

I use CarPlay for almost everything so I'm not sure it's worth $160 a year to me. The weather and the remote app are nice to haves, but not $15 a month nice to have. I'm going to let it expire and see what else stops working. Presumably there will still be connectivity to allow OTA updates? Or maybe that will rely on a wifi connection?

Connectivity shouldn't be an issue with OTA updates, as the vehicle is always connected to the internet. I personally hate Apple CarPlay, as the native nav/infotainment system is brilliant. My plan expires on Sunday, but I received the email to renew it today, which I did.

Could you please elaborate where you got the $160 figure? My email - and the website when I click the link - only shows the $500 option (which is ridiculous).

Thank you...

IF you do not have the wi-fi and only the data pack it's is $160 here in the US. If you have the wi-fi and the data pack it is $600. We have two without the wi-fi and each is $160. However if yours came with wi-fi I believe you are stuck paying the higher price.

Got my email last week. I am still not 100% about this though. I called today to see what exactly was expired as my LR app under subscriptions tells me differently than what the email states. I was told my data pack and WIFI was already expired as of 5/26, but it still works in my car. I am not sure what to do here as i use the WIFI hotspot all the time with the kids on trips. Does anyone know if this is truly legit. My dealer said let it go until you cant use it anymore as it should expire with the warranty that came with the car. which is another year from now.

I use the Remote app frequently, and according to the email I received about the Online Data Pack expiring, it will not affect the Remote app, SOS Emergency Call, and Land Rover Assistance.

YOUR ONLINE PACK SERVICES

If you decide not to renew this service, you’ll no longer have access to:
  • Online Pack - Includes Amazon Alexa integration and access to personalized content from Spotify, Deezer, Tunein with Online Media
Existing services associated to your Remote subscription, such as your Land Rover Remote App, SOS Emergency Call, and Optimised Land Rover Assistance, will remain active on your vehicle.
