Just read this thread in one go. Vacations are nice for such things. Your work on Victoria has been amazing. Hope you continue recovering (selfishly) as I'm looking forward to seeing this continue! I'm just getting into this Rover thing (after I recover from surgery next month) so it's inspiring to see what others have done. Cheers!

Well, swapped out the old 200tdi, after rebuild went south, and she is running again. I'll probably disassemble the rebuilt engine, to see what happen, someday. But, for now...the 110 will be put back into service and hppefully l'll have the inside sleeping platform and cabinets built soon.

fantastic to hear and sorry to hear about your parents. Hope to see you around here more once again! Quite a few new names running around the D2 area these days

Thank you, and hopefully, retirement will afford me more time.

Unlikely retirement will do that. Good to see you around

Removed everything from inside the 110, l'd started doing a sleeping compartment and cabinets, prior to changing the engine a few months ago. Looked at what l'd done...and said..."come on Brian, you can do better than that."

So, over the last two days l've been working on a better outfit. Cabinet is just sitting in there loosely, need to finish ends, then secure and put counter top on.

Sleeping compartment is on left side, haven't finished extending it over second row footwell. Still situating second battery (left footwell) and water jug (right footwell). And need to have cabinet mounted completely, to align openings for compartments in second row footwell. Cooler will be carried in opening in front of cabinet.

l've made an extention platform for doubling the size of the bed (if wife comes along), it slides in under storage compartment. Need to make a false-floor over top of it, so l can use storage compartment. It works well for a little table too. Flip-down table will be added to rear door, for Coleman stove. Want to remove wood panel from rear door that l put on there earlier, sand and correct fitment.

Bed extension in place.

Storage compartment lid doubles as a back rest.

Just slide the second extension over top of opening and you are peacefully reclining in style.

When l built the sleeping compartment in my D2, made it fully cover entire rear area, fixed. Which was nice for sleeping two people...but without a portion you can remove...putting on your shoes and socks was a pain while laying down...especially for an oldtimer. This set-up is much better for hanging out on rain delay days...laying down gets old...or sitting with your legs straight out.

Anyhow, off tomorrow...so should be able to get a little more done. Been sampling long four/five day weekends, testing the waters to get a feel for what retirement will feel like.

Day three, started at 6:00am today, a lot of behind the scenes work today. Reenforcing cabinet where it attaches to rover, built storage compartment for second seat area.

Removed rear door panel, straighten out poor cuts from earlier attempt, sanded entire panel, rounded edges and just cleaned up appearance, and added a piece of aluminum diamond plate between wood panel and door frame, in hopes of stiffening it all up. Hinged last door on cabinet and added black walnut counter top and back splash.

Mounted cabinet, three times in and out before it fit correctly and added reenforcements. Thing was getting substantially heavier...says old man in me.

A lot of sanding and fine-tuning fitment of some of the stuff l did yesterday.

Built front storage unit that is in second row seat area. Mounted the lower structure and cut top piece, but this is about where l ran out of steam. Guys were working down the road all day, putting in fiber optic cable, saw they were packing up, figured they were going to lunch, wrong...they were going home. Time flys when you're having fun...lol. Could not believe it was 4:30...

This peice laying on top of storage compartment will have an opening in the center (lid -24"×27", 35"×27"area below) and be hinged to get at auxiliary battery and electronics (that will be eventually mounted just to the right of battery).

Potable water jug will be fitted here.

Believe, l'll just run a peice of 1/4 cabinet plywood on the roof, and maybe some shelves above windows. Yes, that is duct-tape over the alpine window. Priced a new piece of glass and rubbers...man, they don't give those sumsabit*hes away. Expensive little boo-boo. Worse part is, just put the rack on a couple weeks ago...and it has to come off to replace glass. Yes, l'm going to do both sides while l'm at it. Granted, part of me wants to just get a piece of aluminum and cover up opening with that...and extend shelf farther forward on that side.

Overall, pretty pleased with what has happened over the last three days.

Going to look into mounting a water unit on the rack, maybe twenty gallons or such, for washing and shower.

Have a canopy coming Friday. Been flirting with solar panel(s)...but just don't believe it's necessary...but we'll see.

Default Day four...

Took another vacation day, work seems so over-rated at the moment. Absolutely beautiful day to get a few more things done.

Cut opening for front storage compartment and lid for extra battery, installed hinges. Need to reenforce lid and put some sort of leg to support weight of items or while sleeping.

Spent an hour sanding a board l'd found that "l thought" would make a nice table for rear door. But, the boss kept saying..."why, are you going to use that...it doesn't match any of the other wood?" So, after sanding and holding up there...she was right. Cut another board and sanded it for two minutes and installed.

Made a little wood pivot for hold down, while stowed. Just have a screw ran through it at the moment, but l'll make something more appropreate for adjusting tension. Like the simplistic nature of it.

Going to use rope for supports while platform is deployed, and add longer screws to hinge against door. Maybe a couple through-bolts in panel side of hinge.

Drove to local building supply store for door latches and magnets...but they had nothing, nothing at all, drove to local hardware...they had some stuff, but nothing that would work for me and no magnets at all. They recommended Amazon. So, l'll hit the big box store tomorrow down by work...that is...if l go...lol. But, until then...a little duct-tape to keep them from falling open every time l slam the drivers door closed.

She's coming along, the old beast!

Feels good to make some serious headway on the old girl.
