Bolted down tent, airing out. Boy, this setup would look nice on the beaches of Chile come winter time...

Things you think about when you have too much time on your hands...lol

Funny, was working on the tent mounts when my wife asked..."are you planning on going somewhere?" Just smiled...somethings are best kept from her until it gets close...or she goes into worried sick mode way to early in the game...

Just like the Alaska trip, granted, l tried for four years to get it done...but had pretty much resolved my ambitions of ever accomplishing it, after one setback after another. And was basically planning on selling the defender if and when l got it running. And then l got another engine from Alabama, got it running...so it looked like it would be going bye-bye...then retirement was getting closer, month away and a fellow employee/friend who l talked to on Friday about him retiring also this summer and all the plans he had and such...but none were ever done...he had a massive heart attack the following Monday...and died. Made me realize...if l really wanted to do this...now was the time. So, started building sleeping compartment and stuff, wife asked me what l was up to? Since she knew l'd planned on selling. Said, l'm leaving for Alaska the day after l retire and don't plan on being back for a month or two. She's like...that's less than four weeks away. Yep.

Ballsy. I'd come home to an empty house or the locks would be changed if I did that.

No locks changed or empty house. And, she's been retired for 12 years already, living the dream. So, she knew there was no stopping me.

Been working on a few things. More of a beautification than anything else.

Added a Defeater Mat system from Rovers North, and a few other goodies to complete the transformation.

Mat system.

Cleaned up appearance considerably.

Kick plate carpet pieces.

New seat tilt mechanism cover.

New pedal rubber covers.

Floor was exposed steel before, with a ratty piece of carpet over tunnel and some floor mats. Quieted out interior noise considerably also.

Made some changes to RTT, too. Changed mounting brackets location, turned them 90°. So now, it deploys over backdoor and works as a canopy.

Ready to do a little camping trip with grandsons.

Default Camping trip with grandsons.

Had excellent weather, and the 110 put 400 miles under her tires. Averaged 21.8 mpg, not bad...we were loaded for bear.

Home, unpack, clean up and rethink taking kids camping at my age...lol.

Dalton was quite sad that he didn't get to go. Wife said he laid here for an hour or so missing me...then got up...and totally forgot about me.

Honorable grandson #2 must have been fiddling around with sunroof. Which, didn't realize until l'd wash the rover at car wash...and opened drivers door! Luckily, l'd already dropped them off at home...so no prison time was involved in the making of this post.

Made a couple additions to inside of 110. Added a compartment for a Jackery, shelf for storage and diesel heater.

Jackery cabinet.

Front cover panel, to block view of Jackery.

Installed a shelf on right side. Space is at a premium in the back.

Installing diesel heater. Cut hole and lined opening with a roll of copper sheeting...and chalked.

Installing exhaist and intake tubes.

Set in place.

Y-pipe for duel vent locations.

Vent by backdoor.

Still have to run fuel line and install tank pickup tube...and a few other things before firing up.
