Should be approx 1.84 degrees, similar to the D1.

Started on the swing arm today.

This is made from 3 x 2 rectangle for the prototype, but will be cut from plate and the intermittently welded around the perimeter and in structural/supporting areas. Making it about 2.5" deep x approx 5" wide across the face and rear plates.

There will be 2- Hi-lift mounts. 1- for the 31.5" tire or less (as shown) and one 3-1/2" down and out for up to a 35" tire. Looks like both 48" and 60" jacks will stay below the roof line as well.

Out to the drivers side will be a bolt on bracket to accept 3-2 gallon or 2-3 gallon RotoPax cans.

The tire mount will be set at a height to accept up to a 35" tire and then an adjustable backspacing mount as well.

While this is a little crude, it gets the concept on the rig for me to mark-up and change things where needed.

Still need to set the arm back pitch (pull it back approx. 2") Then the heim joint to swing gate adjuster rod, mount and cushion set stop.

Looking good. Do you have any close up pics of the HiLift mount? I've been wanting to mount mine the same way. Can you remove the lift without pulling the spare tire?

Yes, you can... I have hex nuts on now, but plan on using pinned wing nuts. Just reach behind and unscrew. The Hi-Lift jaw is inset into the arm as well so it does just fall off when loose.

My scheduled R&D time is almost over. I'll have to fit little pockets of time in, here and there starting Tuesday next week.

As soon as I get a couple of measurements the sill slider plates (D1 and D2) are going to the lasers...

That rear bumpa'..........and I don't want to be 'that guy'......but I've been on that design for 18 years now........Difference being 'unibody' related vehicles.

I know you noted changes as I doubt it would work well with a frame/body set up............but with a unibody.....it's freak'in stellar....You couldn't ask for better, my failure rate is ZERO and they continue to change hands.

 

Yeah, a quarter panel bumper has been around for several decades. The first one I built years ago for a guy was a knock off of some 30 year old version he had seen in Africa back in the late 50s on a safari rig that had been chopped to hell from his description. I figure it was a knock off of something seen on a rig in prior years as well.

Even it looked similar to what you posted from what I recall.

Mentioning Africa reminds me of an old customer of mine with far too much money.
