It's not a Rover build thread, MGB with Ford 302 power :D

This is finally getting interesting, yeah my dads my helper at 76, and he worked on these when they were new, you don't want his opinion of these older or any Brit cars lol

Although I told him what you are doing , he seemed a little interested

Glad I could finally grab your attention Tom Definitely working outside of my normal comfort zone here. That is half the fun though.

Dad's are handy old farts aren't they? Glad I'm not the only one using senior citizen labor.

He cleaned a bunch of parts up and prepped them for paint. Also freed up a few frozen bolts. So progress is still happening even though I'm stuck at work. He plans to paint all the parts tomorrow. Going to have to put the cross member back in incomplete though since it will be the better part of a week before a few of the new control arm parts show up.

All the rest of the bits have been painted. Got to work in the engine bay. Got the tranny tunnel upper ridge clearanced and cut out the motor mounts and ground it down. Got the wiring pulled labeled and out of the way for paint. Have a bit more to remove from the bay and it will be ready for paint hopefully tomorrow.

Yeah not to bad so far. Next weekend is cutting up the fire wall and inner fenders. Fenders is easy-ish. The fire wall requires me to weld up and fab all the pretty new steel in the holes I make. This is going to be the hard part for me.

Now time for a bit of rant.

That machine shop wasted my time line and either is incompetent or criminal. So today was spent changing valve springs, and seals. Wasted quite a few hours thankfully the head bolts are not torque to yield and they had a set of quality head gaskets they gave me since my others had already been installed. So a lot of time was spent doing things that were already supposedly done.

I guess I should be happy I did learn how to do something new to me today.

2 snapped bolts removed, triple angle valve job, deck and replace springs. They "forgot" about doing the spring swap. Originally it was going to get a polish and port as well. The 4 day timeline turned into 3 weeks and I couldn't have that. So the polish and port got dropped.

Little more progress today. Dad got started on painting the engine bay.

Today was a good day for parts. I found a bell housing, and back plate we needed near my Dad's place, he went and picked them up. While I swung a hour west of my place and picked up a 66 Mustang V8 radiator and electric cooling fan for a steal.

Also took a page from Dusty1's book and ordered a electric water pump. A few other parts showed up today as well, so the battlefield is looking pretty well prepped for the long weekend.
