It's not a Rover build thread, MGB with Ford 302 power :D
Ok so the progress report for the day. Timing cover and water pump have met. Thankfully they like each other and that problem is solved. Unfortunately while swapping out the timing cover the oil pan gasket was damaged so the oil pan came back off. A new gasket was installed, the new timing cover was installed and the water pump made it on. It was followed closely by the Harmonic balancer.
While this was going on and I wasn’t stopping to go help, cutting grinding and cussing was going on in the engine bay. I removed the old radiator support mounts from the inner fender. Opened up the passenger side header hold just a bit. Dressed the cuts in the fire wall a bit as well.

Once that was all done I moved on to the firewall patches. I took the time to do it right with CAD. Yeah that’s right Cardboard Aided Design
So I came up with this odd looking thing.

That after much cutting bending and cussing turned into this…

Not bad for my first attempt ever at a body panel patch. Tomorrow we will test fit the motor with both of these in place to make sure I didn’t patch a area we need for clearance. Double check the header clearance and then weld them in place.
About the time we were going to call it a day, my hood showed up. So I of course had to set it in place and see how it looked right away. Plus I needed somewhere to store it for the night… Yeah that’s it….

Man, did your wife give you an allotted amount of time to get this done in?!
That is a lot in one day.
Better be careful, they will have the old people police coming by to investigate your labor practices...
I love that hood. You didn't mention color yet???
Get sticker for it that says "British by birth.. Engineering and Financial Management by the Army"
haha I crack myself up... Looks really good...

Tom, had more to deal with than pulling the oval off. Especially since the grill has been pulled and is sitting on a shelf now lol.
Detoured, awesome looking triumph. I need a hood though the SWMBO demands it. I was a bit worried about the hood I chose as she hates hood scoops and this car is a big part of our retirement plan. Touring the country in it pulling a tear drop trailer behind it
Tex, I have my own time table and have pretty much been failing to meet it at every turn and the work is at a stand still now as we hit a block that is going to take a lot of work to over come and much of it is probably beyond my skill level. I'll catch the thread up tonight on where I'm at on the project and the problem I hit. Maybe ya'll will have some suggestions.
