YUP, I'm former Air Force civil engineering......steel fabrication, that was my second start dealing with the steel......should have stuck it out, many of my side kicks did very well......but, I'm not much for a structured environment...did my part, got out. I could talk long and wide on this subject, base shut downs, bad decisions by our idiot gov't.......but I won't.

Peace Out!

Fishsticks......You've done this, looked good......can you post a side pic of your rig? I'll just take it from there.....it's just non ferrous metal, what could happen?

I say "Go Navy!" Did 3 and got the hell outa dodge. Couldn't handle those fitness reports, not one to toot my own horn.... no regrets though. Proud to say I served. Guves me a helluva lotta respect for those Americans who volunteer to place themselves in harms way. Happy Veterans Day to all who have served....

Sadly that truck is gone and this is the only pic I have really. Small tires on for suspension work.

Basically I take a piece of cardboard and draw a varying radius curved line. I cut the cardboars along that curve and end up with a sorta claw shaped piece. Then I'd offer uo the curved part to the rear wheel arch and adjust the position till it looks good and blends seamlessly.
I mark the cardboard with a sharpie where it meets the bottom and top of the metal. Then I trace the line onto the metal and cut with and angle grinder. Flip the cardboard to the other side. Using the marked spots on it put it in position, trace onto the metal, amd cut.

You'd jave something like this for a pattern to trace onto the metal.

Being a part of it is all that matters, no matter the branch!

Thanks 'Fish.....for now I just want to loose some of that lower rear rocker prior to starting the rear bumper.

The lower rear rocker is all I ever trimmed for my 265/75's. From the edge go back maybe an inch. Taper your cut up into the wheel arch radius.

I gotcha'.....

My 265/70's cleared with only minor nipping at the base, the tire took care of the rest.....

My goal is to create a higher, tighter bumper that will require less metal to cover.....like up front.

Thank you.
