clutch repacement
I have about 6500km ahead of me in the Amazon in my Defender 110 Td5 model 2006 and was wondering if I should replace the clutch before this trip.
The car has now 140,000km with its fist original clutch. I have heard from other owners that they had to replace the clutch at 50,000km.
I seem to have no obvious problem. When I got the car, one had press the pedal to the very end to disengage the clutch, now that point has moved to about the middle but works fine.
Is there an automatic adjustment mechanism build in?
Is there a way to ascertain that this clutch is still good for this trip? What would it be and can a mechanic do this?
What would you recommend?
Many thanks for your advice.

You might be able to stick a boroscope through the wading plug hole in the transmission bellhousing to asses the condition of the clutch plate and disc. I've seen some new models being able to transmit quite good quality video
If I were you I would replace it if I did not know for sure the condition. Especially being a defender you can do it easier than any of the other models, pulling the floors away etc. I do not know of an auto adjust mechanism but you yourself can adjust it, many videos online, like Land Rover toolbox on Youtube.
