Emissions in NY for 1993 Defender?

Default Emissions in NY for 1993 Defender?
I am an LR newbie but my father is an enthusiast and we are considering a 1993 Defender. Can anyone advise on how to understand whether specific LR models will pass emissions in New York State?

Are you sure you want to start with the most rare and expensive Land Rover sold stateside? Having said that, if the motor is in good shape there's no reason the 3.9L V8 shouldn't pass NYS emissions.

Where is the Defender registered now? If NY state, don't really see any issue if it running correctly and doesn't have any check engine lights on.
