Default Locking front axle

I'm looking for some advice. My Defender 90 300tdi has developed an odd fault. It locks the front axle as I come to a standstill. Screechy tyre type locking. It has a Detroit diff and has been running this for 10 years or so. I have completely stripped and rebuilt the front axle, replaced the CV joints and all oil seals etc. I found one tiny piece of metal in the diff sump, but nothing else. I could only do a visual inspection of the diff on the bench, but all looked OK. There was one oil seal missing in the axle, flange between axle and swivel pin, but this would not cause the problem. After re-build, I tested it without the front prop and I still have the same problem. Any ideas?

I'd say it has to be your diff, if you've replaced C/V joints, inspected the wheel bearings and removed driveshaft. Not much else it could be. And, this happens even when coasting to a stop, no brakes applied?

I can coast to a stop without locking the axle, but it always happens if I use the brakes.
