Default So which Defender for me?

I'm a long time D1 (96) owner and have wanted a Defender for awhile now.

It will not be a heavy use daily driver.
It will function as a beach town/urban vehicle.
It will be kept in a very high corrosion area.
It should fit 4 relatively comfortable.
It won't see any heavy offroad but instead obscene potholes, curbs, dirt road farm type of driving.

So, I'm thinking:
-A right hand drive because of availability and price. I have a lot of RHD experience.
-Diesel cause it'll be less expensive.
-Maybe turbo for some power.
-Maybe a TD5 90?
-Maybe previously restored galvanized frame? From there we can pretty much do anything here.

The one thing I still need to check is the break year for imports here and how it effects taxes....if there is one.

Any suggestions? Army, I'd like to hear yours....

it would be scratched up, with smashed bumpers and needing a new headgasket within 3 months. she's getting a prius, i'm using the D2 and secretly shopping for a D90.

The one you want is on the right. The one you can afford is on the left. Have offspring build their own from a Toylander kit.

Or enjoy this one .... Land Rover : Defender 110 NAS SPEC in Land Rover | eBay Motors

OK. But all the gas money you save on the Prius will have to go for cost of shipping in parts. Or the college fund. Trust me on that one.

well...i already deal with the shipping parts issue. that's why maybe it would be smarter to go with a defender that uses discovery parts too. then i could easily access all the gaskets and hoses and that stuff here...even tho i usually get that stuff from the states anyway. i could see where some RHD parts would be difficult....

25 miles plus on the tdi.

the college fund is another issue entirely.

and i always trust you Sava.
