Problem finally traced to the main computer. Moisture inside. Where to now is the question. Where do I start looking for a computer? Can I just swap in a 1997 D1 computer or will it need programming at a LR dealer. Seriously don't know what are my best options at this point.

 

You can swap one in, but you need to also swap the green alarm box under the dash as well. I have a set from a running 97', actually still in the car.

Did my 98 didn't need the alarm box, maybe case by case basis?

 

I've read it's not always, but if you can get the alarm box it's a better alternative. I have read that you need it, but only know of one case where the main ECU swap didn't work on my friends rig.

 

I swapped my 97's ECU, but did not swap alarm green box. Just the luck of the stupid I guess.
