Default 1997 Disco rain leak rear roof near back door

Found a rain leak coming from somewhere near my back door. Rain running into the floorboard on the back of my Rover. Looks like it's coming from the rear driver side post somewhere but it is really hard to see where. Any ideas before I rip out the headliner and plastic parts? I DO NOT have a sunroof. Any prior experience here would be appreciated. Thanks!

Pete

Gasket around fixed window glass on each side?

Our back door leaks pretty regularly if we dont slam it closed but it usually takes a jet of water from the pressure washer to get inside even then. I'd check the seals around the alpine windows, back door glass and fixed side glass. The fixed windows on the rear sides are pretty notorious for having dry rotted seals.

It usually takes one really bad seal or a decent sized hole to let in rain water though.

Check for those gaping cracks in the rubber.....replace them, or you can use a sealant.

I have to do the same thing. After all the rain yesterday there is water all over the interior of my car. After it dries I'm going to have to run a hose on it to see where it's leaking. I think it's the driver rear door weather strip.

Wasn't there an issue with the roof gutters leaking? I seem to remember a TSB issued with instructions on applying sealer in the gutters.

Default Discovery Water Ingress

Here's one thing that our friend in San Juan posted a while back.

Land Rover Discovery Water Ingress Manual

So you've got your Land Rover Discovery and you have found a water leak into the vehicle; Welcome to Land Rover Ownership!! Very soon after buying my Discovery, which is my first Land Rover, I was told that if it doesn't leak then its not a Land Rover.

After finding water in the rear loadspace I was more than a little annoyed that this expensive vehicle could be leaking. I posted a question to the LRE Forum and received many helpful replies which served to educate me that such faults are indeed just another part of the characteristics of Land Rover Ownership, something that I have come to accept.

It became apparent that every Discovery leaks from somewhere, it is just a question of in how many places!! Below are the LR 'fix sheets' for the water ingress into the Discovery. I followed the sheets and have cured the water ingress into the rear loadspace, which was the only problem area on my vehicle. I have since discovered a leak into the front passenger footwell, although only onto the mat and only when I wash the vehicle. Obviously that is my mistake; washing it!!

Mine leaked recently and it was the rear sky window. The water was coming under the seal in the outside corner (not the seal where the glass mates). I sealed it with black silicone taking a flat thin gauge piece of plastic to raise the edge so to get the silicone under it. Careful not to scratch the paint.
