1997 Discovery Obdii code and diagnostic help please
I have a 1997 Discovery that keeps setting two codes.
PO1313
PO1314
They are pretty generic codes but they are keeping me from getting it smogged. I've taken it to two shops and have have been of no help. I took it to the "Land Rover" guy in town and he said it could be plugs, plug wires and to replace them first.
Replaced all of those and still get the same codes. I also ran the android program Torque on it and got a few more things but don't know what they mean.
TID: $04 CID:$01
TID: $05 CID:$01
Thank you in advance for all of your help.

Thanks - Matt

He was right. Most common cause of misfires is old plugs and breaking down wires. 1313 and 1314 are catalyst damage level misfires (strong ones, on both banks of cylinders). You can download the GEMS ECU manual at link below, it has the codes, how they are computed, etc., and how that particular part of monitoring works.
Here's a pix of that, you have to look inside the inspection plate. The CKP tip is passed by those tabs and generates a signal. There have also been misfires from a malfunctioning VSS sensor, but I don't think the ones reported were at your level.
These are not misfire codes, they just indicate both cats are failing and are out of range.
They will need to be replaced and ou spend some time trying to find out what has caused them to fail or it will happen again.

I wanted to stop back by and say THANK YOU. This is a special thanks to ihscouts and Savannah Buzz. You were right. it was the ring on the flywheel. There was one tab that was bent just a little. There is NO way I would have found that without your help.
If you ever make it to Reno, Nv let me know and I'll take you to dinner just to say thank you. It's hard to express my thanks but please accept my gratitude.
