1998 D1 - instrument /switch lighting question
Not my truck, neighbors, so bear with me. We resolved the issue of brake lights and thus cluster lighting - what an odd wiring setup... But we noticed that none of the cluster side switches, for cruise and such, light up. Also the switches for sunroofs do not light up along with the lock out switch for them. Rear sunroof switch also not lit. At the center console, only the window switches light up - the heated seating and lock out switch do not. Im not sure about some of the other dash switches like fog, did not look. So question is, should they? If so I will soldier on helping to get them work but I dont want to waste time if they should not (although pretty sure they should light up).
On a related note, I rebuild the sunroof ECU and things still did not work, at all. Yet I had power to the module. So my gut said it was a ground issue, it was. I ran a temp wire to a switch ground then to the ground for the interior dome light and bingo, sunroofs work fine. So I may end up just putting in a temp ground for him to get them working right and calling it a day, unless there is a common issue with the ground I should look at?
Thanks for any help, compared to the LR3 this thing is so simple yet I am out of my element having no experience with a D1. Working on swivel seals for the first time this weekend...
