97 Disco Finally Started! But then smokes and dies...
The STFT:24.2% means the short term fuel trim is 24.2% above normal fueling. I was probably accelerating on a cold engine. A lot of these tests are short trips around the block.
I'm really waiting for the ultra gauge to arrive to get more useful diagnostic info. Trying to check as many factors as possible until then, but it's got me pretty well stumped.

That's just what I found on google
Just went out for another test drive to see if my tweaks had any effect and to check for new codes. None so far. I did check the exhaust for moisture though. I put my hand in front of the smoking exhaust and it felt moist and condensed on my cold hand. I then drove around for 20 minutes to get it hot. I checked the upper radiator hose and it was hot, where earlier it was obvious the thermostat hadn't opened up yet. I checked the exhaust again and it was clear but still produced a lot of condensation on my hand. Does it take more time than that to burn all the overnight exhaust system condensation away?

The product of a good combustion is CO2 and water - true
After passing thru working CATs. But if that was all there was, you would not have carbon monoxide poisoning (ET - don't be doing this testing with that little garage closed off - your HVAC system for the home can suck in the monoxide and impact people in the house - and you could pass out in the garage and die).
Wish it was just CO2 and water, then the environmentalists would love us, water, CO2 for green things, and we stir up the dirt to allow new seeds to spread...

Yeah the garage is open and fans are definitely on when it's running. Otherwise it gets toxic quick
USPS says the ultra gauge will be here Monday. Been using the auto store's scanner about two blocks away.
Yes, have thermometer. RAVE doesn't say where disco's anus is though.
After our snow trip today I was hoping the cylinder rings had seated more. I tested problem cylinder 3. Previously it was 120, now it measured 140. The others still measured around 150.

WELL IT IS LOOKING MUCH BETTER (plug wise)!
My exhaust always seems fairly moist, I can often see the vapor condensate like a slight vapor trail sitting still, but I do not consider it to be smoke!
Maybe everything needed some time and cycles on it to start to run properly.
