I checked him out and he is legitimate.
DannyLee offered him a used fuel pump and he is following up from the looks of it.
I am going to be keeping my eye on him for suspicious aaccttiivviittyy (
) though as we have been getting slammed with SPAM!
Danny-let me know if this turns out otherwise.

SPAM, Crap? Hey play nice with a new guy, I don't know the board yet and I guess not auth mail systems either. I'm just contacting Danny Lee thru this link on a rover issue/part. I working a 97 Disco1, NonAEL with a really strange fuel or evap prob. Disco runs great but noise grows. Don't want to screw up original poster"s threads with my problems.
Thanks.
Thanks.

hmm hope that worked. trying to figure out how to attach pics...
well this is what I found today.....ran a test that I believed would let me know if ecm was bad...... disconnected Camshaft sensor and tested for voltage between 1 and 3 pins on the pigtail connector while helper tried to start. as always ....got the same jumpy voltage 12v/9v/10v/5v figured ecm was sending signal to the sensor so it must be at least ALIVE also tested between , 2 & 3 same voltage jumps and between 1&2 jumpy but lower
moved on to crankshaft...did I mention I cleaned the underside the day before ...wow it looks different.... now with decent flashlight and after remove fiberglass from my eyes I see.............................................!! !!
crankshaft sensor pigtail had lost all the insulation and the 2 wires were wrapped around one another---
The previous owner had replaced this item trying to start and probably twisted it the wires , they were very brittle, I could not figure out how to get that fiberglass cover off tore it ...probably regret this ay?
anyway cut the connector pigtail off about 6 inches back and proceeded to try to find the connector I had seen the night before while watching ehow and crap on how to test your cam/craftshaft testers and how they work yadayada I thought it was a ford or olds anyway ... thought well surely I would find it for a ford in the connectors book....called rovers north , 2.5 hours later gave up on new connector (really wanted that new NOT brittle plastic tho) wasnt too bad though so went to the shack (radio that is )
got some wire and solder and a new solder gun that spiffy magna glass is from the Harbor and proceeded to rewire the connector the pics if they made it are these ...and my yucky plugs ...
try it out tomorrow after shrink wraping and heat barrier sleeve added
new plugs and wires are here too ....love that overnight.....let ya know what happens
And oh um about the tank... I'd like to drive it into the dealer I guess Im stubborn plus I know they will charge me broke if I come rollin in there on a tow truck so we'll see ...........if it doesnt start tomorrow after finding this I may think about it harder
well... after I replace cam sensor too....see stubbornthanks and night everybody ...im tired

I would say you are making excellent progress. A wiring snafu can be a real bear to find. As I have worked my way thru a variety of issues on my 97 Discovery, I have found that the factory wiring harnesses on these beasts leaves a lot to be desired.
I am a bit of an extremist when it comes to stuff like that. I have ripped out all the carpets and some of the interior panels as well as the center console. I did NOT care for the way the wiring was routed underneath the carpets. Also the wrap on most of the bundles has not fared well with age. As I go, I do not hesitate to rewrap and reroute the bundles. The harness contains a good bit of factory splices that can be problematic also. They lack overall quality and durability, especially if you do any off-roading THAT MAY INCLUDE WATER CROSSINGS. Iespecially dislike the mounting of the sound system under the passengers seat. All that stuff is now gone from mine. I bought some tie-wraps and the stick-on anchor blocks to assist in rerouting the bundles.
I am also in the process of building a new custom console to replace that plastic crap that was in there. I will post some pics upon completion. It is a bit unique. I think some of you will like it, others may not.
If you search electrical plug replacements you may find a compatible housing replacement. If not, yoc can often slide spade connectors right on the correct lug then use some RTV to insulate it as an emergency type fix.
Keep up the good work. You impress me.

As far as Mr WildRider, I spoke with him today and all is cool. He is just a new Discovery owner (new Owner, old Discovery). He has some rather confusing issue with his fuel pump system. It seems he has an extra vent line that I am not familar with. Maybe someone can assist him in sorting out his issue. He did a new thread.

Hey everybody ......What A GREAT DAY!! Got to drive my rover for the first time........ahhhh very nice.........replaced the repaired harness for the crankshaft sensor after many layers of heat shrink and then this Xtreme tape stuff followed by these cool spark plug boot protectors that were used to replace the shield that I broke off............they were the perfect size to slip over the sensor housing .........
Turned the key and she started right up the first time!!! Had some creaking and such underneath .........ordered new rotors and pads today and got new belt ......poured some Lucas fuel system cleaner in there to clean er up ...she sounds great ..........
Luckily the new camshaft position sensor and crankshaft sensor never shipped due to address problems...someone was watch'in out for me I guess since I didn't need em' ..........just wanted to check back and finish the story for future searchers.....fuel pressure back during starting , spark and start........good luck to all who read this hope it is helpful!!!
next stop the dealer to get my recall work done
Thanks for keeping me sane!!
