Hello all,
Car died while driving, checked fuel pump fuses (good), checked fuel pump itself by hot wire and it works, I am assuming the next logical step in the relay. What likely hood is it a ground on the starter or the ecu that failed?
Also, when I turn the key to start, it now takes up to 5 seconds of holding it in start before the engine starts to crank.
I am open to any ideas you all have. Just need to get this running.
It is a 1999 disco1 or late 98 Disco1. J pulled my ecu apart today when I realized that I had no check engine light on when I turned the key on.
I found a couple spots of corrosion inside on the circuit boards. I have a new one coming hopefully later today or tomorrow.
- can you confirm power at the fuel pump? (you checked fuses but wiring can also go bad)
- Is the starter functioning properly?
- Is the battery fully charged?
- Hook up a live-data obd reader and check for RPM reading when cranking (to verify that crank pos sensor is functional)
hot wired fuel pump from the relay and it works. Battery is new, starter function is good. Did not check crank sensor with obd.
I will check that this evening.
cheers and thanks.

engine speed sensor has no reading while cranking.
I just ordered a new crank sensor. Will be here monday! Yay! At least I get to save gas money for a week.
