Was wondering if any of you guys have tried this:

My wagoneer had a 350 buick motor in it and our LR motor are very similar.

I used the TA oil pump and regulator on it. I was able to get 35-45 lbs at idle and 75lbs at 2000rpm.

After reviewing the oil pump and I see the the pressure relief valve is similar.

The one thing I learned about the buick 350 pumps is that the clearances actually adjust the idle pressure (rpm limited) but the djustable regulator starts kicking in at around 700 rpm. Stock buick idle is 550 rpm.

has anybody messed with this?

It seems to me some higher idle pressure will keep lifters pumped up better and reduce the use of thick oils.

 

What are you current oil pressures, all 4 of them.
These engines ar not designed for that sort of high pressure and the way most people let their engines leak, you wouldn't make it around the block without starting a new leak.

 

I have no idea what my pressures are. It's a brand new motor, new tc cover pump, sleeves, all new valve gear rocker arms lifters ca
Etc. I'll test later. Not a big concern.

TA performance builds the 215 they don't seem to have issues with that type of pressure. Is there an exterior seal that has to hold it? Like crank seals etc? I did not think this motor was built that way?

Since the oil separator in the valve cover can become plugged, and cause oil leaks, would suspect that increasing oil PSI 80% might well have a similar effect.

 

Now if you wanted to power flush the oiling system.............
