Default After purchase inspection and maintenance

Frustrating so see guys buy our beloved and hated Land Rovers only to have issues days later.

I would like to propose a list of the things each of you owners do before driving it.

1. disconnect, clean, reconnect elelctrical connections under hood and at fuse box
2. Run fuse box
3. Check battery and alternator
4. Fluid check

I found that cleaning the ECM module connection helped a bunch too.

Also cleaning the engine

Checking PCV

what else you got?

dont buy a truck that has questionable looking coolant or is making tons of ticking noises hah
avoid the headaches by buying something that isnt weeks away from the scrap heap...

but changing all the fluids when you buy it is a must.

Start on the 60k maintenance list. Install new thermostat, consider a 180 one. Flush and eval radiator. Invest in an Ultra Gauge.

I'm looking at buying a used '98 Disco in about a week. I've looked it over the best I could at the time I saw it, but a deeper inspection is needed. I wasn't able to drive it because of a brake fluid leak that is being fixed this week. It has 202,000 miles on it. I was able to crank it and let it run for about 15 minutes while I looked it over. The engine ran purrrfectly with no pings or taps audible. The exhaust was clean and no signs of excessive moisture or discolored smoke. I've been reading alot of posts here and you guys have alot of great insider info for these vehicles. I know I have alot to look into before putting pen to paper and you guys have helped greatly with that. Thanks for all the input and keep it up. Even with all the aforementioned problems, this truck touched my heart and I want it. Wish me luck.
