Alternator Question

Default Alternator Question

i have a 98 landrover discovery and i recently replaced my bad alternator with a different used one..My Questions Is When start my car will the battery light go away? because i turned my car on but didnt start it and the battery light was still on...i cant start it untill i get my starter fixed

Engine has to be running and alternator producing voltage to turn off the light. If it stays on the battery is not being charged.
