Default Alternator suggestion

Hi guys,
I have a 1998 V-8 4.0 disco 1. The Bosch alternator has ceased. First I'm not sure if the alternator amp is 100 or 120. Second, I don't know if I buy a more amps alternator (160amps) would damage my ecu?
Any info, suggestion and comment will be greatly appreciated.
Carlos

Magnetti Marelli A127i 100amp is OEM. If you can find a GEMS Range Rover P38 it uses the 120amp. Increasing the amperage won't harm the ECU, necessary for things like a winch.

Is the alternator completely shot? I've had good luck when I replaced the voltage regulator on mine a couple years ago (very easy to do and costs about $35 off ebay). Still working like a champ. Before I changed the VR on the back of the alternator my lights would get dim and then bright, I would lose my tachometer or it would jump when lights dimmed or got brighter.
