Another Vortec swap thread...
I agree an older Jaguar motor would be a nice swap just for the sake of being uniquely British.
Although I've argued that the Rover V8 is nearly perfect for the 90's Land Rovers, the only thing I don't like about it is that after you close the hood, it is otherwise hard to distinguish from a (anemic/stock) small block Chevy.
The Jaguars would also allow you to maintain similar fuel economy, so you wouldn't miss that aspect of it.

I've gone BMW........
I was seriously looking at a XKR supercharged 4L V8 for sale locally that had been in a front end wreck but since my son picked up a BMW 530i 3L V8 32V (M60) I'm sold on em. Probably won't see much of me around here because of it. Already signed up on a BMW board and have been posting. I've poured over his car, had a ground fault on his brake light circuit and through simple wire isolation nailed it.
They are just what I needed, something far more advanced in electronics and engineering. There is an M5 in my future.....

I've had a few BMWs. They are great cars. The best one was a manual e46 330ci. They are the best driver's car I've ever driven, perfectly balanced and smooth. As for the Rover, I have the engine out and torn down at the machine shop. It looked pretty clean, and no signs of damage. Once it's back the 4.6 crank rods/pistons and new 4.6 stock cam is going in. I also got a set of Mustang 4.6 fuel injectors that are supposed to work well. Has a 4 hole pattern for better atomization over the stock ones. Will update when all back together.
I've already found a 540 M-Sport tonight and sent the seller an email, has the 6 speed manual and under 100k. Black on black and super clean interior/exterior. I'm actually excited, hope I own it soon..... Good M5's are a wee bit higher/harder to find......
Nice I was looking at those before I came across this rover. In hindsight, maybe I should have kept looking. The 2003 M-sports as you probably know are the best, but the price usually reflects that. The e39 M5s are one of the best cars ever made. Of course maintenance and repairs can make keeping up a D1 seem like it's a Chevy. Since we all DIY though, I think it would be well worth it. The price on a good one seems to be appreciating with age though. A good 540 manual from what I've heard is basically 75% of an M5, which is still a lot of car. Main things I remember to look out for on those was cooling systems (most BMWs), cam chain tensioners (easy DIY), and water cooled alternators. A black 03 M-sport is a beautiful machine. Good luck with the search, and post pics if you find one.

Sweet. I picked up some rr injectors off the pick n pull donor I got the crank and rods from. Also got the recommended volvo injectors off of a cl part out but rather use rover ones. They look almost identical except for the forementtioned bottom. 4 small holes instead of one big phucker.
The stock 4.6 Rover injectors are a 4 hole injector and supposedly flow as much as a Mustang one. I know they are four hole injectors because I ran injector cleaner through mine while I was replacing my head gaskets. Four nice crisp streams. Might be worth looking in to so you won't be stuck trying to make the Mustang ones fit under that plenum.
