auto to manual conversion in a '96 D1?

those things all can have boundary conditions...
many times rev down will be more aggressive until X rpm above normal idle speed where things will start "catching" the engine speed so as to maintain idle - idle valve will open, ignition timing will change, etc etc
again, not specific to the D1 but this has been my experience when tuning idle control other systems...

Ok, so I'm getting somewhere. Since both the 99 and the 95 doner truck are north american spec V8 gas vehicles, the only difference is the GEMS on the 99.
The crack position sensor is on the engine, not the bell housing. As another poster noted, there is only one bell housing for all years.
All I need is a 96-97 flywheel that will signal the crank sensor.
Regarding the debate about the ecu, that could be an issue. Do any of you guys know first hand if that's going to be a problem? And - if so, whats the solution - source an ecu from a manual vehicle?

the seller doesnt state milage filbs. usually that means it's not a selling feature. Plus the cost of getting it here and into canada will be as much as the whole truck. The one I'm looking at only has 30k on it.
I found out a little about the ecu. I will need to take it to the dealer so they can connect to the computer and inform it to run as a stick shift instead of an auto.

I don't think I'll go ahead with this project.
I inspected the D1 thoroughly and didn't like it anywhere near as much as I expected. It was an unpleasant driving experience for one reason and another. Obviously it's top dollar too and it still needs things of course since it's 14 years old.
Thanks for all the input though. I may well still do this in the future with a different D1, and at least the parts needed are now documented on this board.
