I am hoping someone can help me. I am replacing the shift surround on my 98 Discovery 1 and need to remove the automatic shifter. From what little I can find online I have taken off all the parts necessary and it should just pull up and off now. It still seems to be on tight. Below is an image I found online that shows all the parts I removed (except the shift **** itself of course). Do I just need to pull harder? Any help would be much appreciated!
Yeah just keep yanking. If that brass jam nut was tightened too much previously it may have pressed the shifter **** down on to the selector shaft too far. Maybe spray a bit of penetrating oil from above and twist side to side to try and break it loose and twist the whole thing off

Thanks BlackSpeed! That ended up working. Now I just have to figure out how to fix the slop now that it is all back together. I am thinking about adding a set screw... Thanks again!
