Default Back in the saddle again…with issues!

So I took the plunge and purchased a 96 SE-7 5 speed Disco. I love the brand but must be a masochist since I am fully aware of the headaches being a previous owner. Right out of the gate I am having a P1316 code coming up, so I did some research, and replaced the plugs / wires and added seafoam to a fresh tank of midgrade gas.

The Symptoms (Over two days, three journeys)
- When driving more than 10 miles and over 25mph the car starts hesitating when accelerating. It will accelerate and then hesitate 3 times, accelerate and then hesitate 3 times…ongoing. It’s kind of like a turbo – lag, lag, lag, and then POWER!
- It has died twice in one journey.
- Once it has had a burning rubber smell coming into the car.
- The low oil light flickers (expected, you got to love Lucas the Price of Darkness!)
- The ABS light comes on and off at startup when it feels it needs some love.

The Car
- 1996, 5 speed, 125K on her.

Currently the car is at the dealership and they seem to be having issues finding the problem within the chain of command. The dealer adjusted a spark plug that I installed to the correct gap and then drove it three times gave me a call and stated it was fixed but wanted to drive it more. They called back in about an hour which I somewhat expected. One of their parts guy making a run and he got the royal treatment of my acceleration problem and turned back freaked out.
Any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be get it out of the stealership and stop wasting the money, sounds like your no better off than when you took it in....typical though.

Yes I agree get it out of that dealership. Fuel, Air or Fire? Start the elimination process, trace every wire, test every component. Before you know it you will have found the problem.

An improperly gapped plug would not be the cause. A loose connection could. Also from what I read a sticky valve could easily cause both the 1316 code and the skip you are having.

Why mid-grade instead of 93 octane?

Drive the Porsche.
