Default Battery draw

Well, I have been having a problem starting my 1998 Disco recently. If it sits for more than 3 days, I get a slow/no crank. If I wait a week, then I don't have enough power to unlock the doors. I quick draw test showed that I had a 150mA draw. I began pulling fuses while watching my meter. When I got to fuse #12, the draw dropped to 20mA. I could hear a clicking from behind the glove box when the fuse was installed and removed. I traced the clicking to relay K151. The "interlock relay 2." I removed the relay and the draw is still at 20mA. I drove the truck home, and there doesn't seem to be any problem. My question is: What does this relay do? Do I need it in there?

That is for your shift interlock.
I found out recently that when it fails it will draw power continually, it needs to wither be removed or replaced.
Is your ignition switch also warm to the touch?

It's kind of hard to touch with the column covers on. Do I need to replace it, or can I just leave the relay out? It isn't drawing any power now.

On my copy of the electrical manual, section c1 page 1 tells about the transfer case interlock, which is part of the shift interlock system. Circuit on section C1 page 5 shows that K151 controls the transfer box solenoid. That keeps you from shifting out of high or low range unless tranny selector is in neutral.

Oh, It is the transfer case interlock. Thanks! This really doesn't matter to me. I don't see a scenario when I will be trying to shift into low range while driving around town. Easy, but best of all FREE fix.

Well, the fuse does other things. I will leave the relay out.
