Ok, some new numbers. First I disconnected the alternator (the top large cable)
Previously I was reading 3.8 at the 100A fuse. With alternator disconnected that reading is now 1.87. So does that tell me the alternator is not totally bad or can there be a connection issue? Or is this telling me my 3 phase generator is only using 2 phases?
Here's why I'm thinking connection. When I installed this alternator the small wire that has a connector that has a hole in the terminal end broke off the wire when I was re connecting. I replaced with exact same type connector and crimped down and electrical tapped. Could this possibly be the problem? How can I check that w meter? Unplug that connector and test at fuse?
I also re ran my battery numbers again since I know that the battery is fully charged.
Engine off: 12.95
Engine off lights on: 12.70 good=11+
Engine on no accesories: 13.87 good=13.8-14.4
Engine on all accessories running: 13.5 min.=13.2

Does anyone know where this wire leads to? (see pic above) I checked RAVE can't seem to locate it. I would like to replace the entire wire, I think this is what is shorting out. Since the voltage drop decrease by 50% when I take off the top cable, I'm assuming it's the connection I changed out on the 2nd cable down.

OK, I did, top cable drops it by half. Second cable nothing, reading stayed same,
bottom plug in cable nothing reading stayed same.
I decided to change the connector on the cable in the middle, the one that I had changed previously just to make sure it was a good connection. Connection I now I am very good with. Tightened the nut back down and pop goes the stud that the bolt was on! So, now I guess I'm going to have to take the alternator back off and get that damn stud back out!
