Default A bit lost with transfer case tear off.

Ok 98 disco. taking off transfer case ( see thread : did my transfer case eat itself) how many bolts actually hold the transfer case to the transmission? I've got the mounts undone. And the strap off. But I'm not quite sure what bolts actually remove the case from the trans? It looks like the three on the driver side just above the mount. Is that correct? Still taking one off from junk yard before I completely take mine off so to learn with out screwing mine up. Never done transfer case on anything before. Thanks y'all, workin hard to get rover Rollin again.

This link might be able to help a little. I personally haven't taken one off (yet). It shows the LT230 and you might be able to see the locations of the bolts.

Hope this helps a little.

That did help! I can confirm the three and maybe a fourth bolt. Can anyone confirm the final count on bolts that secure transfer case?

I think there's 6, 4 one way and 2 facing the other, but that was a year ago I did mine, so it's hard to remember, I tear apart heavy equipment daily so that clouds my memory of that job a bit.

Yes the final count is six. 4 aft 2 forward. They are hard to get to in a junk yard with no jacks allowed. Had to remove cross member and let trans and case "hang" to finish off the last 2 bolts. P.s. that thing weighs a ton, especially one man pulling it off on a gravel lot. My back looks like a wild night in the sack.
