Default Brake light bulbs!

Well its happened, after 4 or 5 months of ownership I've encountered my first road block. My drivers side brake light bulb went out, thought little of it and began the contortionist feat of pulling the bulb... Well the bulbs in great condition, looks brand new. The socket however is not so great. The plastic isn't warped to bad, at least I can get it in and out again but the contacts are pretty much gone from corrosion. Being that I cant find the socket it fits into ANYWHERE I was thinking of rebuilding the one it has. So the next question becomes, does anyone know where to start looking for the metal used in those type of connectors?

unfortunately all I can say is GOOD LUCK!! I have struggled many times to get the brake light bulb sockets. The tail light ones are all over the place but not the dual element ones for the brakes. You could try to use parts from a tail light socket, or if the bulbs stay in the one you have, solder a wire onto the bulb and hook it into the wiring harness. Add a connector on each wire and it should work. I was ready to do this and I found a socket in England , paid the shipping and put it in. I should have bought a couple of them as spares.

This might be the thing to push me over the edge in buying a 3d printer. I'll produce them by the thousands if I have too! haha Good call on just soldering in a wired connection though. I may go that route over fully rebuilding the socket with new flat metal connectors in it. Probably more sturdy that way anyway.

I'd by 4 or 5 if you print them. You can find them, but they are $40 (approx). They were also used on a Toyota Yaris!

The other possibility (low probability) is to search for a Toyota dealer that has (Toyota) part number 90069-81014 (2003-2005 Yaris). Very much a needle in a haystack.
