Default Brake Lights- Tailgate works but thats it

Hey guys, just like the title says, the upper brake light on the tailgate works just fine, but I have no other brake lights. All new bulbs, then tested with a circuit tester, no power to lower brake lights when the brake is applied.

The brake light switch appears to be functioning since I am getting one light to work.

But frankly, I am at a loss. All connections to bulbs appears clean and free of debris or rust.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

'98 Disco, btw. Been my baby for 10 years now...

The rave electrical manual should give you some ideas. Look to download it in the sticky thread at the top of the D1 (this) forum.

Oh I've had it for years. There are some diagrams but I was hoping this was one of those odd things that has happened to someone before.

I went ahead and ordered a brake switch. Even though the upper light comes on and I can shift, I read about plenty of erratic behavior caused by a bad one without it completely failing and locking the shifter. So I guess we'll see.

Otherwise I am not looking forward to trying to find a bad ground somewhere.
