Can't remove stuck ABS reluctor/sensor ring from brake disc
Hi everyone, I'm doing a big brake overhaul on my 1996 Discovery, replacing discs, calipers and lines, and I'm stuck on the rear brakes. I need to remove the reluctor ring from the brake discs to detach the disc from the hub, and it's stuck fast. I'm hoping someone has a brilliant idea or trick about how to get it out, as there isn't anything to grab onto or a good prying surface. I've removed the nyloc nuts, but there isn't room to get a hammer in to tap on the bolts from the hub side. I'm at my wits end for the day, and ready to break something, so I figured I'd ask for help instead.
pic of the otherside?
when I did mine there was no trick to getting them off - just unbolted them from the disk, some of the studs came out some didnt. but mines a 98

Thanks for your reply, here are a couple shots of the reluctor bolts from the other side of the disc. There isn't much room between the hub and disc to get at them.
Thanks for the reply, I'm not sure what you mean by some of the studs not coming out. From what I can see in the manual, the studs are attached to the reluctor ring. Here is a photo from the hub side:
It's been a couple of months since I did the same on my 96, but i remember using 2 or 3 small bolts (@1/4" x 1/2 with acorn nuts on them and used them in the small area to push the ring off by turning the nut and bolt to lenghten them and push the ring off. I honestly thought at the time of taking pictures - hmm, maybe I did...but I hope this gives you ideas! Russ
Try heat. Take a propane torch to the rotor and heat up where those little studs poke through. Then, with thick gloves on, try tapping the rotor with a 4 lb. mallet. The heat should help to break the seal between the ring and the rotor.
