cargo door hinges and paint matching
My wife called me and told me the rear door was broken and she could not shut it. WTF? OK. When I arrive on scene it appears the pin in the lower hinge had snapped.
After a bit of investigation I order a couple of used hinges. Apparently they used a covered top arrangement in the D2's but it is the same fitment.
My truck is Willow Green but the replacements I ordered were not so some bead blasting, sanding, priming, painting and clear coating were required.
I ordered a spray can of paint from paintscratch.com. I have to say the color match was quite good though we are talking about a small part with complex surfaces (not just a flat surface) so it isn't really critical in this application.
color match from paintscratch.com
New hinges installed.
upper....
and lower....
I did fashion a gasket out of 1/16" thick rubber to separate the hinge from the frame as I suspect it would corrode otherwise.
