certainly no question about that!

with the way that ive described above, on my truck, there doesnt seem to be any issues.

and because i had a similar concern when installing it, i actually put the whole thing together without the headliner and tuned it with the SWR meter before buttoning it up... no noise or SWR issues with it mounted/wired as described.

The best way to route power wires for a cb is directly off the battery. If you tap it off any of the fuse boxes your gonna get unwanted noise. As far as a cb not pulling many amps I'm calling shenanigans my 14 gauge wire gets very warm after extended use so I have 10 gauge running to it now. I wouldnt go with anything smaller then 16 gauge if you are running it from the battery up to where you plan on mounting it. Personally I dont care for Firestick antennas but they are fine for smaller radios (6 watt and smaller output) anything larger go with a full metal antenna.

Always remember make sure everything is grounded good.

I don't know how big/powerful your radio is, but I'll say it again... Mine had a 2 amp fuse

If you have a 6 watt radio you'll be pulling .5 (that's one half!) of an amp at 12 volts.
14 gauge is way overkill.

Mine is wired straight off the battery. I switch between a cobra 29 and a super star 121. I wanted to put it above on the visor portion, however both my Cb's are large so I had to place them on the back of the console. The issue I had was I wanted to wire into the fuse box or cigar lighter but whenever I did the cb wouldn't work. So I wired to the battery. And I would suggest heading to radio shack or a truck stop and pick up a swr calibrater. It really helps tune your cb for the antenna length and let's you get out and receive better

Where ever you put it, with whatever size wire you use, please make the first thing after the battery or fuse block is the fuse holder for your radio with proper sized fuse. A shorted cable or unit can draw quite a bit before blowing that 60 amp fuse link you decided to tie down on. Fuse holder goes at the source of power, not two inches from the radio.

Discos have enough problem with overheat under the hood, don't need electrical fire to take out your rig.
