To answer your question I think those temps are too hot. I tried to find in the RAVE were it says how hot the coolant has to be to move the dash temperature gauge away from the middle or normal and I couldn't find it. I have heard a while ago that it was pretty high temp to move that needle(234?). Temperatures higher than your having but still. I run up and down hills and at high elevations and my temp has only gotten to 198 when it was 95+ degrees outside with the AC on. Even in traffic the temp doesn't go higher than that. My whole cooling system is new and the motor is rebuilt though.

thanks, these trucks came with 195 degree t-stats so my thinking is 200-230 is acceptable,my fans never come on so i/m well below that, the waterpump is the most recent add on and i think once coolant is hot it pushes or circulates so fast that it doesn't get the chance to get below 206 which i still think is acceptable, just looking for others with similar readings

During operation if the temp rises to 210F the condenser fans should be running .

If the fuel temp is above 158F the condenser fans turn on.

If the coolant temp rises above 230F after shut down they come on for 10 minutes.

230F is not acceptable while the motor is running.

Your temps should range from the Tstat fully open temp to less than the condenser fan 210F in normal driving. Stop and go will spike the temp enough to trigger the condenser fans and when they come on it should lower the temp pretty fast, at least in my experience.

I live in the desert, and my DII runs at 93 to 96c or 199.4 to 204.8 f . I have replaced HG, hoses, tstat, radiator, water pump, and viscous fan. It runs those temps like clockwork, and never a fluctuation.

I gotta throw in here.. fighting a cooling issue on mine, I found fan clutches to be hit and miss - more miss than hit. brand new, two never disengaged, one never reengaged and finally one from German manufacture worked perfect for 4 months, now it disengages as you start driving but reengages at the first light or two if the temps are over 45 deg outside.
If you are not hearing that very noticeable noise as it gets that hot then you are defiantly driving with a fan clutch that has died long ago and now lost all its fluid and not stuck in the "default" engaged mode any longer.

BTW I ended up with a new radiator as there was deterioration behind the condenser fans that was not visible and beyond repair.
In my post on cooling issues from 06/03/17 a poster had what has to be the most conclusive list of things to check i have ever seen.

Good luck !

thanks for responding, just trying to hear what other rover owners experience,my truck under normal conditions runs great, even when on the hot side no fans come on after turning off so i know i'm under the 234 degree temp and was just trying to gauge what other rover owners deal with when it comes to temps

I would not bank on that ... I can only assume the switch to start your aux fans with the a/c is separate from the temp sensor that starts them when hot. best not to take chances with aluminum blocks.
