Default Cracking tires

Question about the tires on my 1999 Disco I, the current tires are Michelins with 40,000 miles on them, a 60,000 mile tread warranty, and were installed in 2008. The tread is still fine (about 10/32 left) but the sidewalls have started cracking. I've never been good at judging when cracking is bad enough to warrant replacing, how do these look?

i'd be replacing them as well. mileage isn't everything when it comes to rubber, age matters as well.

I would get new tires too. With the next set of tires try using some Tire Shine ( made buy numerous companies) a few times a year. It will make the rubber last longer. I look a good set of tires as an investment, tire shine protects my investment.

Its called weather checking.
I'd still drive it with that little amount of cracking, once they start loosing air on a regular basis then it is time to replace.
If these were el cheapo no name brand tires, I'd replace them now.
My Michelin's did that too.
Michelin is a great company and if you contact them they might replace them for free or at a greatly reduced rate, I have heard of that happening with them.

If you park the truck for long periods outside cover the tires to protect them from the sun, go to a travel trailer supply/parts/dealer and buy 4 tire covers, if you pay attention to parked travel trailers and motorhomes you will see they have their tires covered.

There is no warranty from any tire manufacture when it comes to checking which is o-zone related.
You might be OK, for a short while, when in town driving but I would not suggest highway drive and especially offroad or you can have a failure.

I think I'll play it safe and replace them, just gives me an excuse to get some new wheels Been looking around on here so I've got an idea of what people suggest for tires, I'll see what Tire Rack has to offer for prices.
