Hey all! I just picked up a '97 Discovery and I'm going through trying to clean it up. Overall it starts right up and runs fine but I am getting a cylinder 1 and cylinder 8 misfire code.
Any advise is welcome!!
I read that I should check the spark plug wires to see if they are the OEM gray wires but they are not. They are blue which makes me think that they've been replaced. Is it worth replacing them again?
My next thought was to go through and upgrade all the spark plugs from the original copper to platinum.
Anyway, this is as far as I've gotten so far. Thanks!
If you dont know the age of the plugs and plug wires than the first bet is to replace with a good pair of plug wires which means everything to these trucks, followed by a new set of plugs. Many use the standard champions, others have said positive things about the NKG, and Bosch plugs. It depends on who you ask.
Take notice of which plugs come from which cylinder so you can better analyze an issue.
Many of us have an UltraGauge installed to monitor some of the trucks vitals. This device can also tell you what error codes the ECM is putting out.
