Default D1 Retiring from Active Duty Driving

Well...it has came a day where the D1 is no longer will be my DD.

I want to preserve this truck, it has saved my life in a tornado, it has given me much joy off roading and really been an awesome reliable truck for the couple of years I have owned this thing.

Rover will parked, getting 12mpg anymore is just not feasible when I drive so much. SHE IS NOT BEING SOLD...only 118K original miles on it..she has lots of life left (has rebuilt top end). Rover will serve as a utility vehicle now, snow vehicle, dog commuter and a back up vehicle.

I know how you feel. I would go broke trying to DD my rover. They make good weekend vehicles!

While parked, leaks continue at same rate, but with longer intervals between outings, you have the potential to be really low on some fluid that would have been noticed as DD. Adjust maintenance checks and inspections as warranted, consider a battery maintainer, or solar cell panel to keep up the battery. IMHO unplug the hood alarm switch so you can avoid immobilizer issues with a dead battery jump off. Lots of WD40 to replace the normal oil drizzle "factory anti-corrosion" system.

Where do you live Hun?
Be aware of "lot rot", believe it or not cars do not like being parked.
What are you driving instead?

Depending on how long your parking you might want to use stabile or sea foam in the gas tank. CHECK ALL FLUIDS BEFORE DRIVING AGAIN AFTER A WEEK WITH NO DRIVING... If its going to be parked really long consider jacking up the axles so the tires don't get flat spotted/rot?

Thanks for the all the heads up...I got a 2012 Focus that gets 40+ mpg

The Rover is driven at least once a week around town...taking my dog to the park, etc...so she isnt fully fully retired
