Default D2 tranny in a D1?

Looks like my A clutches have failed in my 96 Disco. Can I swap in a tranny out of a D2? I know a salvage yard with a couple lonely D2s. Thanks

i"believe" it will be a lot of work the D1 is a stand alone transmission (shifts hydro) the D2 is an electronic transmission two different beasts. I'm Not say it cant be done but would be much easier to swap a D1 for a D1

Not a direct swap. As said, the D2 is electric shift. The electronics you would need would cost 2 or 3 times as much as a used D1 transmission: Ashcroft Transmissions

I'd contact Marty Powell. He seems to have some of the better prices for transmissions and shipping. He can probably ship you one cheaper than you can get one at the yard locally.

I think there is a guy in NM that breaks rovers too... check on facebook in the "American Land Rover Owners"

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the info. I'll look into a used D1 at Ashcroft.

Oh. You're in Minnesota. Ignore what I said before about Facebook.
