I hear ya, was in the same boat once but for me it was in the summer, not much need for wipers unless raining. Mine would not park or function normally, gave Rovers a bad name for awhile. It's been 7 years since I fixed mine, not one problem. I used bearing grease on the gears and top coated the the large gear with dielectric grease.
