Install the axle end first, use LOTS of antisieze on the bolts through the bushing. Then try to line up the frame end. You can push the truck left and right while pushing on the bolt and it might just slide right in. Otherwise you can use a long punch inserted through one side of the frame mount and halfway into the bushing. You should be able to leverage the punch one way or another enough to get the bolt in.

You also might try a ratchet strap from the frame across to the other side of the axle to pull the axle whichever way it needs to go.
Nah, I can't muscle anything. My dominant arm (right) is quite damaged, so muscly stuff isn't for me. I did try a dummy screw to hold the one side while I worked the other but couldn't get it through at all. But jacking the frame or using a strap are the way to go! Will do that this morning. In my frustration, I forgot that all I'm trying to do is use two points to accommodate a line. If the line won't move, the points have to!

And another repair is in the books! Six hours today of fiddling, fiddling, fiddling. Most of it spent jacking and re-jacking and moving the jack points. The last hour consisted of giving up, followed by renewed vigor. Borrowed a good pry bar and spent 20 minutes prying with one hand and tapping with a hammer. And it worked! Test drive went great, suspension feels lovely again, now I am going to go drink all the alcohol and eat all the food.

Anyone wanna buy my old panhard?

Ps I ended up just using one bottle jack (a tiny one, hence the hours of jacking) and two jack stands, and no strap. Just hammer and pry bar. Finding the right position for body was most of the work, then the fine tuning with hammer and pry bar.

It's so worth all the knuckle-skinning and sweat when you can cruise, smooth as silk, and be so proud of your work and your ride.

Thanks for all the help!!!!!!:
