DI 4.0 question
I ask this over on the general disscussion board, but I never got an answer. What is the difference between the 4.0 motor in the DI's and the 4.0 in the DII's? Thanks.

Then why is it that the DII's have all the head gasket problems but the DI's don't? If the differences are only with the injection system and sensors it doesn't make sense.
Its because of the coolant that DII's come from the factory with.

Dex-Cool is corrosive and it eats gaskets if it is not properly maintained.
You must check the Ph balance of it once a year and adjust the Ph as needed.
Is it best in my opinion to just do a complete coolant flush and then use any all aluminum safe coolant you want.
I prefer Peak Global.

D1's had just as many problems as the D2. They failed about 60K. They have all been fixed by now. It was caused by the composition of the gaskets.
Dexcool is only corrosive if it comes into contact with atmosphere, like when you have a leak.

Throttle body heaters on DII's leak constantly, DI's dont.
The biggest cooling problem on a DI is the radiator becoming clogged because the owner is not servicing the cooling system often enough.
My head gaskets are original.
