No, my mind isn’t necessarily made up, I’ve definitely taken a bit of a step back, but I wouldn’t not do something just because people say I shouldn’t without actual reasoning. Once on a forum a guy told me I shouldn’t drive my Land Rover over 70 because they’re old machines... I need more than that lol.

it just wasn’t making sense to me how new seals and good connections would result in leaks and not many people have been able to provide me with actual reasons

Don't step on it

I'm not sure what causes the metal fatigue other than that, its been like that on a few rover's I've parted out, So I assume its just something sitting on the roof or age.

I believe the actual reasoning is the original design. They were a poor design with subpar parts that didn’t hold up. Over years of use, the opening and closing stressed the rollers, the frame assembly and eventually the problems began. Back in the day they were infamous for the “popping” noise. My 97’ would “pop” when opening and closing, this is the year 2000 so it’s only 3 years old. One theory I had was that the sunroofs would slide open and up instead of open and into the roof. This had the glass sit on top of the roof and if you are going down the interstate it would exert a lot of downward pressure and stress the frame and moving parts. My Toyota and Honda both have sunroofs that slide into the roof and neither have ever stopped working after 15 years.
These rovers were not made from long lasting parts, I.e. sunroofs, window regulators, any part that moves up down usually have issues. Also, the roof on the Discos aren’t perfectly flat. As stated they warp and that warping obviously affects the sunroofs and fitment.
