No, it is still an easy repair. First be sure that problem is no spark. When this happens, take a spare spark plug, and connect to plug wire and lay on the manifold. Crank and check for sparks. Ignition amplifier is part of distributor, sort of plastered on. There is a relocation kit that extends the life of it. But this time it might just be a trashy connection.

and the module

Now for future, consider yours a 1995 for most purposes, and use that section of the RAVE shop manual set.

No bonfires except as celebration once work is done to praise and honor the Rover gods, with meat roasting, cool beverages with more alcohol content than American gasoline, and scantily clad women who love men, mud, and the machines they cherish. Might be slightly illegal in your neigborhood, adjust the alcohol and amount of female exposed skin to local requirements.

Is the engine designation a 3.9 or a 4.0 just out of curosity.

You also would not have the same emissions equipment that the US version would have is my guess.

Is it fuel injection or carb?

Cheers Sanannah Buzz. I'll give it a bash. I see that i have the relocation kit installed. I'll check all the connections on it first. I also have two small condensors fitted to the coil? Any idea? Radio suppresion perhaps?

Condensers help reduce AM radio interference, and in old days before electronic ignition helped reduce erosion of the "points" or contacts that drove the spark coil. Some iginition systems (like certain Mercedes) have an extra shield layer around the plug wires to knock it down even more.

Nope - needs to be GEMS or Bosch fuel injection ECU. But you can hook up your own heat and oil PSI gauges, etc. If tempted to test, try an auto parts store and see if their code reader will read it, if so the Ultra Gauge will work. Dealers had a computer that would read earlier models.
