I noticed for a little more I could put in a HEI distributor. Has anyone done a swap like this? If so did it make for a more reliable spark system? Thanks

It would be far more reliable but it's huge! I personally would go that route, it's either that or a Pertronix dizzy to start fresh. Check Dweb for threads on the HEI or Pertronix.

I put the alarm module back in. It started as I was able to drive it. I checked the pickup and it Ohm'd out ok. It wouldn't idle at 800 rpm on the gauge, I had to turn it up to 1000. I'm not sue what the problem is. I replaced the plugs, the cap and rotor. Also have a new amplifier module. Could this be the plugs. Also before it starts the motor turns over and then acts like it catches and doesn't want to rotate. Any suggestions?
Looking at the Petronix also. Thanks

doesn't want to rotate>>> check the battery and all the cables ,ground cables etc, ...
the idling issue can be a dirty idle air control motor....located on the back of the intake plenum....take it off and just clean it....DON'T rotate the pintle, clean the hole it goes in and put it back on...start with that stuff for now

I'll try that. Thanks. I tried to start it this morning and it wouldn't start. Motor turned fine with no hesitation. Didn't have time to check for spark.

Finally got a chance to check my rover out. I drove it a while on Friday and Saturday it wouldn't start. I checked for spark, none. Ohm'ed out the pickup coil and it was out of spec. I'm figuring this has been my problem the whole time and it's been hit or miss if it starts. New one arrived today and I'll be installing it on Friday or Saturday when I get home. Will post again when the new pickup coil is in. Thanks everyone for the help so far. Hoping this fixes it.

Put in a new pickup coil and still won't start. Not sure where to go at this point.
